Council says yes to Mystic Heights
After answering a few more questions and clarifying a few points,
Chillicothe's City Council said YES to the proposal to build 100 housing
units on 37 lots that will make up Mystic Heights. The Housing
Development is for the nearly 14 acres of prison property north of Third
Street. The developer still needs
to provide a plot proposal and received approval from the Planning and
Zoning Board before construction begins.
RFP's For South Side Property
With the property North of Third Street moving into the development phase,
the City will soon advertise for Requests for Proposals to develop the 44
plus acres south of third Street. Mayor Chuck Haney says they will
follow a similar process to what was done for the North side.
He says all proposals will be heard before decisions are made.
Freedom Festival is Saturday at Simpson Park
Chillicothe's Freedom Festival, presented by the Chillicothe
Area Chamber of Commerce and KCHI is Saturday, starting at 6:00 pm.
The celebration includes the largest display of fireworks in the area,
Live Music and Bike Give-A-Ways. There will also be more food
vendors and games than in the past.

Resident to be Honored as Distinguished NCMC / TJC Alumni
Dr. Grace Marie Warren
McReynolds of Chillicothe is one of five individuals to be honored as a
2009 Distinguished NCMC / TJC Alumni in a ceremony this fall.
McReynolds began teaching in a one-room school in the late 40’s and her
career developed over the years to include being named the Director of
Elementary Curriculum for the entire state of Missouri until her
retirement. The honorees will be recognized on October 10 at the annual
NCMC Gala.
Cooling Assistance Available / donations Accepted

Two Chillicothe Men Sentenced in Drug Conspiracy
Two Chillicothe men will spend five years in federal prison without parole
for there part in a drug trafficking conspiracy. Forty-seven year old
Allen O. Anderson and Fifty year old David W. Boley had plead guilty to
their part in the conspiracy in January, admitting they were distributing
substantial quantities of methamphetamine in the Chillicothe area.
Dumpster Fire investigated
Chillicothe Police Officers responded to the Chillicothe Plaza Apartments
about a dumpster that was on fire. The Chillicothe Department of
Emergency Services arrived on scene and extinguished the flames. The
cause of the fire is unknown.
Board of Equalization Accepting Appointments
The Livingston County Board of Equalization is accepting
appointments for July 9th to resolve differences in property valuation.
The meetings are held by appointment only. Call the Livingston
County Clerks office at 646-8000 extension 3 to make your
appointment.

Ruth R. Naught
A Carrollton resident, 89 year old Ruth R. Naught died Sunday in
Carrollton. Graveside services are Thursday at 11:00 am at Big
Adkins Cemetery near Carrollton. Memorials may
be made to the cemetery. Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton is in
charge of the arrangements.
William “Don” Ward
A Chula resident, 77 year old William “Don” Ward died Tuesday in
Chula. Services are Friday at 10:00 am at the Lindley Funeral Home in
Chillicothe. Burial is at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in
Chillicothe. Friends may call Thursday from Noon to 9:00 pm and Friday
until 10:00 am at the funeral home, with family visitation Thursday from
6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Don
Ward Vocational Technical Scholarship Fund.
